Give your anxiety a hug?
The condition of anxiety and the term anxious has taken on a negative connotation in society today. But is it? Anxiety, nervousness, desire to succeed or be the best drives some of the most successful people in our world.
Anxiety drives us. You can use your anxiety to build your success. A natural inclination is to push anxiety away, to say stop being anxious and just relax. How often does that work? Can you push your anxiety away?
I recommend embracing your anxiety. Say to yourself - yes, I am anxious. Is this important to me? Why am I so anxious? What am I feeling? Maybe fear, anger, insecurity? Answer these questions for yourself. Now embrace that emotion. Understand that these feelings are normal and okay to experience. Now reframe your thoughts and ask yourself if what you are thinking that is leading to those feelings is logical. We always try to avoid discomfort and very often we try to sweep our feelings and insecurities under the rug, but that is only going to lead to an unhealthy cycle of anxiety and negative thinking.
Make anxiety your friend instead of your enemy. Give it a quick hug and then take control because you can reframe your thoughts and take action to overcome those negative feelings that precede anxiety.
